Best known for his use of colour, Stephen Burrows’ career has fluctuated as many times as his styles. He studied at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology and spent two years working in New York’s fashion industry. Picked up and promoted relentlessly by Henri Bendel department store in the 1970s, he was given his own in-store boutique called Stephen Burrows’ World. Frequently in and out of fashion, Burrows’ clothes have a wide appeal and have been worn by Debbie Harry of Blondie and Diana Ross.
