Born: Oran, Algeria, 1955
Jean Colonna learnt his craft at Balmain before launching his own label in 1985. It was not until fashion entered its deconstruction period in the early 1990s that Colonna found his métier. His look is simple without being dull, interesting yet not too extreme. Colonna is not precious about design: he regularly uses inexpensive fabrics and raw methods of finishing.
