Most famous for his Wannabe loafer, which enjoyed phenomenal success in the early 1990s, Patrick Cox has now changed tack from concentrating solely on shoes to accessories and clothing.
Cox emigrated from Canada to England in 1983 to attend Cordwainers College, London – the only establishment to specialize specifically in shoe design. While still a student, _he worked with Vivienne Westwood on her autumn/winter 1984 collection. In 1985 Cox set up his own company – which commissions for British designers including John Galliano – where he continued for six seasons. Since then, he has produced collections for Anna Sui, Katharine Hamnett and, in 1990, Lanvin’s prêt-à-porter collection. In 1991 Patrick Cox opened his first shop in London, selling antiques alongside his bestselling loafer.
