FÉRAUD, Louis

Born: Arles, France, 1921

Chic suits and sophisticated French tailoring are the signatures of Louis Féraud. Glamorous and wearable, his clothes appeal to groomed thirtysomethings and women of a `certain age': his clothes were worn by Joan Collins during her Dynasty and Dallas periods, but have also been worn by Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Deneuve and Kim Novak.

Féraud served as a lieutenant in the French Resistance, and opened his first couture boutique in Cannes in 1955, which was patronized by movie stars. He became a costume designer before moving to Paris 20 years later. In 1984 he won the coveted Golden Thimble Award. An accomplished artist with a sensitive palette, he has held many exhibitions and is also an author - L'Été du Pingouin was published in 1975.
